pricey, but consider that a paramotor can be carried in a pickup or SUV, needs no airport, and is truly \u201cfree flight,\u201d avoiding a lot of the rules that encumber much of general aviation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10924\" style=\"width: 538px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10924\" class=\"size-large wp-image-10924\" src=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/xomo-motor-528x528.jpg\" alt=\"Exomo motor crafted at ACS, complete with carbon fiber mounting class=\"wp-caption-text\">Exomo motor crafted at ACS, complete with carbon fiber mounting, e-Prop<\/p><\/div>\n<p>George Blottin, the founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/aeronature.com\/\">Aeronature<\/a>, a parasail and paramotor training site in southern France, wanted something that would avoid the noise and occasional failure of two-and-four-stroke engines.\u00a0 Electric motors fit that bill, and he worked with a participant on the Airbus e-Fan project to create one that met the specialized needs of paramotoring.<\/p>\n<p>His firm, Exomo, can provide the 15 kilowatt motor with a variety of battery packs, ranging from a 15-minute, 25 Amp-hour unit, through a 30- to 45-minute, 45 Amp-hour pack to a 60-minute pack of unspecified capacity.<\/p>\n<p>Such flying needs a low-rpm, high-torque motor to provide thrust at low speeds, and the Exomo\u2019s direct-drive configuration would seem to fit that requirement. \u00a0With an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.e-props.fr\/16\/welcome.php\">e-Props propeller,<\/a> the motor can produce over 60 kilograms (132 pounds) of thrust.<\/p>\n<p>Exomo\u2019s web site explains, \u201cThe EXOMO engines are developed and assembled to\u00a0aircraft specifications\u00a0at ACS,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aero-composites.com\/\">the aeronautical specialist of electrical propulsion<\/a>\u201d that makes the E-Fan for the Airbus Innovations Group.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"electric paramotor EXOMO take off before the storm\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BBPW8E3xMEU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This experience with Airbus projects, including the electric Cri-Cri, has produced a clean system that can replace a good many noisy two-stroke setups on parasails.\u00a0 To show the electric powerplant\u2019s advantage here, sound levels at a very low fly-by are pleasant and low-pitched.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Electric paramotor allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Exomo reports their motors helped their team pilots win a world championship in the slalom competition held in Legnica, Poland last year.\u00a0 Looking like a low-speed Red Bull Air Race, the slalom requires a cool level of piloting and power to make the incredibly tight turns around the pylons.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"2nd World Paramotor
