Promoters of lithium-sulfur batteries suggest their products have several desirable characteristics and performance boosts that may transcend the limits of lithium-ion cells.\u00a0 Sion Power, for instance, claims availability of their Licerion battery<\/a> with an even better 500 Watt-hours per kilogram and 1,000 Watt-hours per liter.<\/p>\n OXIS Energy’s graph of current and future performance for their lithium-sulfur batteries<\/p><\/div>\n On the same track, OXIS Energy has announced they have a demonstrated 425 Wh\/kg cell, expected to rise to 450 Wh\/kg by the end of the year and to 500 by the end of 2019.\u00a0 These numbers, as those for Sion\u2019s cells, are about double or greater those for the best lithium-ion batteries now being sold.\u00a0 Inside EVs<\/em><\/a> reports, “On the module level, energy densities now stand at\u00a0300 Wh\/kg<\/strong>, but by the end of 2019, OXIS Energy hopes to reach\u00a0400 Wh\/kg<\/strong>.” (Their bolding)<\/p>\n OXIS\u2019 16-Amp-hour pouch cells are currently available for High-Altitude Pseudo Satellite use and Sion\u2019s batteries have been used in Airbus\u2019 Zephyr HAPS program.<\/a><\/p>\n OXIS works along several development lines, and CEO Huw W.
