S.-based company promoting its mission to, \u201cMake access to goods as frictionless and universal as access to information.\u00a0 Our products enable organizations around the world to build and operate drone logistics networks for transporting goods on demand, through the air, at a fraction of the time, cost and energy of any other transportation method used today. \u201c On March 27, it announced a collaboration with United Parcel Service (UPS) that delivered the first commercial medical payload at the WakeMed medical facility in North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Andreas Raptopoulos: No roads? There&#039;s a drone for that\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9yEl0-bCA9M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Other non-commercial operations by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyzipline.com\/\">Zipline,<\/a> operating in Rwanda and Gambia; and\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.swoop.aero\/\">Swoop Aero, Ltd.<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/wingcopter.com\/\">Wingcopter<\/a> delivering vaccines in the South Pacific, are bringing \u201clast mile\u201d delivery of medical goods and services to remote locations.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Hustle<\/em>, an on-line news source (we go to no ends to find the latest intelligence), reports, \u201cBy working closely with regulators, UPS became the first fully operational, revenue-generating drone delivery service, beating competitors including Amazon, FedEx, and Uber that have tested delivery drones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>UPS and Matternet can reduce \u201csensitive medical deliveries (such as lifesaving organs or blood)\u201d from 30 minutes in traffic to three minutes, an extremely crucial 27-minute saving in emergency situations.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?time_continue=24&#038;v=dD1yyWuULCs<\/p>\n<p>This kind of \u00a0necessary function certainly over-rides the need to get your DVDs from Amazon or your pizza from Dominos, both entities seeking OKs for drone delivery.\u00a0 10 medical deliveries a day will help WakeMed \u00a0patients survive more than a sudden pepperoni Jones.\u00a0 UPS might even increase the frequency of flights at WakeMed.\u00a0 This gets a bit complicated because approvals have to come from the FAA and the\u00a0 North Carolina Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Matter of Matternet<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Matternet started with the idea of providing \u201clast mile\u201d delivery of medical supplies in Africa, but added missions for the Swiss Postal Service and permanent healthcare operations in Switzerland.\u00a0 Now that the systems are well tested, \u00a0Boeing \u2018s Horizon X has helped add $16 million in funding for Matternet\u2019s expansion in the U.
