Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Eviation is an Israeli aircraft company which believes in giving its customers a choice.\u00a0 About to be shown at the Paris Air Show in July, Eviation&#8217;s Alice will be offered with either Siemens motors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flightglobal.com\/news\/articles\/us-company-magnix-will-supply-electric-motors-for-ev-457593\/\">or MagniX units.<\/a>\u00a0 Air show visitors will see the craft with three Magnix 250 motors producing 375-horsepower each.\u00a0 Roei Ganzarski, MagniX CEO says \u201cThey\u2019re going to have a fully functioning aircraft, their first of type, at the Paris Air Show.\u00a0 Our propulsion system is going to be on it.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13832\" style=\"width: 538px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Magni250_1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13832\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13832\" src=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Magni250_1-528x451.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"451\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13832\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">MagniX Magni250 motor &#8211; three of which will power Eviation&#8217;s Alice<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Eviation\u2019s nine-seat Alice is a bit of a trip through the looking glass, looking like a futurist\u2019s dream machine.\u00a0 The modern tri-motor features such light construction that it can carry three tons of batteries to provide 650 mile range.\u00a0 Ganzarski explains, \u201cThat means you can easily do Seattle-San Francisco or other significant-range flights.\u00a0 It\u2019s a real long-range commuter aircraft.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The full electric  aircraft EViATION ALICE     @ AERO e-flight-expo Forum 2019\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V3vg3Nly6m8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Why Two Different Motors?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only a few months after announcing its use of Siemens motors on its Alice, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eviation.co\/\">Eviation<\/a>\u00a0says it has selected Redmond, Wash.-based\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.magnix.aero\/\">MagniX<\/a>\u00a0to become a propulsion system provider. The company <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/eviationaero\">announced its partnership with MagniX<\/a> on its Twitter page<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.geekwire.com\/2019\/eviation-picks-magnix-provide-propulsion-option-electric-airplane\/\">In an interview with GeekWire.com<\/a>, Ganzarski explains, \u201cOnce you can have an aircraft like the Alice that operates at such a low cost compared to traditional aircraft, and is clean, we both believe that will create a new type of market that doesn\u2019t exist today. It won\u2019t be filled by the regional carriers, but rather by new types of companies that will set up services for movement of either people or goods \u2014 for example, delivery companies \u2014 and they\u2019ll be able to do that by air, covering more distance at a much lower cost than trucks can.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jeremybogaisky\/2019\/02\/20\/eviation-gains-backing-from-billionaire-richard-chandler-to-make-first-electric-passenger-plane-take-flight\/#5cb86ac46ebb\">According to <em>Forbes.com<\/em><\/a>, Eviation is working \u201cfeverishly\u201d to prepare Alice for the Paris Air Show, June 17 through 23.\u00a0 Following its static display, the airplane will be transported to the United States to under flight testing and coordination with the FAA to prepare for certification.\u00a0 Headquartered in Israel, Eviation wants to have the plane certified by the end of 2021 and aims to start delivering the planes to customers in 2022.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Aleo-Mascotte-GIF1-rev1.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13831\" src=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Aleo-Mascotte-GIF1-rev1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"209\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Forbes reported in February, \u201cThe 35-employee company is getting its funding and supply chain squared away. It says it\u2019s secured the roughly $200 million it needs to get through certification, and it announced Wednesday that it will source high-power electric motors from Siemens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Part of having two motor suppliers is to ease demands on the supply chain, so it added a Magnix option in late April.\u00a0 That choice may also relate to Eviation\u2019s funding source.<\/p>\n<p>Forbes reports, \u201cThe lion&#8217;s share of its funding is from Clermont Group, the private investment fund of Singapore-based billionaire Richard Chandler, which is giving Eviation $76 million in exchange for notes convertible to a 70% stake in the company, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission dated January 3.\u201d\u00a0 Chandler has also invested heavily in MagniX.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13833\" style=\"width: 538px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/eviation-prescott.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13833\" class=\"size-large wp-image-13833\" src=\"http:\/\/sustainableskies.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/eviation-prescott-528x345.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"528\" height=\"345\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13833\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alice will be assembled and tested in Prescott, Arizona. Leland Moreno-Hilburn, executive director and general manager for Eviation Aircraft Inc., says up to 20 personnel will be involved in integration and certification programs.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>MagniX has also partnered with Vancouver, B.
