{"id":12308,"date":"2019-11-29T23:11:59","date_gmt":"2019-11-30T06:11:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/?p=12308"},"modified":"2019-11-29T23:11:59","modified_gmt":"2019-11-30T06:11:59","slug":"first-lindbergh-e-flight-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/first-lindbergh-e-flight-rally\/","title":{"rendered":"First Lindbergh E-flight Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lindbergh E-flight Rally coinciding with Friedrichshafen\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aero-expo.com\">annual Aero Expo<\/a> will explore the growing capabilities of these amazing machines.\u00a0 The Lindbergh Foundation invites owners of electric aircraft to gather two days before the opening of Aero Expo 2020 to fly over the scenic marvels of Germany, alighting on Expo opening day \u201caround 11 a.m., just on time for the AERO press conference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Revolution of aviaiton - Hy4 #h2fly #Hy4 #hydrogen\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xLqRpw3Y2b0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The hoped-for <em>en masse<\/em> arrival would highlight the number of electric aircraft now flying and their reliability.\u00a0 Organizers explain, \u201cLike the first ultralight aircraft did then, the first electric aircraft today need to prove that they already function perfectly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The two-day aerial cortege would fly \u201calong Lake Constance, and past castles, palaces, and churches, to a first stopover at Regio Airport Mengen, which was recently awarded a contract by the state of Baden-W\u00fcrttemberg for the construction of a test platform for electric flight\/autonomous flying.\u201d\u00a0 There, entrants will charge their batteries and head for their second and last stop of the day, the Bad Waldsee-Reute glider airfield.<\/p>\n<p>The second day, all competitors fly from Bad Waldsee to Friedrichshafer Airport, where the planes will go on display in one of the large halls.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"What&#039;s New in Electric Airplanes?\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vIM3pgxHVIM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Pilots (or their passengers) would photograph turnpoints on the two days, and their graphic documentation reviewed by judges after the craft land.\u00a0 Craft will be recharged, measuring directly how much energy they used in the last part of their journey, and points added to their overall score.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=a_ncBL-Mvto<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.flyeurope.tv\/aviation-tv\/electric-aircraft-ready-for-takeoff\/\"><em>Flyeurope.tv<\/em> reports<\/a>, \u201cA prize is awarded in each of three classes: trikes, three-axle, and hybrid aircraft. Every day during the exhibition, a television escort team will capture impressions of the first Lindbergh e-flight rally, which will be shown on a large screen. Manufacturers of electric aircraft have received requests from visitors, underscoring the importance of this first worldwide rally for electric aircraft.
