{"id":223,"date":"2009-11-11T23:58:39","date_gmt":"2009-11-12T06:58:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/?p=223"},"modified":"2009-11-12T00:09:22","modified_gmt":"2009-11-12T07:09:22","slug":"a-great-year-and-gala-day-for-yuneec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/a-great-year-and-gala-day-for-yuneec\/","title":{"rendered":"A Great Year and Gala Day for Yuneec"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Last year, we knew <a href=\"http:\/\/yuneeccouk.site.securepod.com\/Aircraft.html\">Yuneec<\/a> for its tidy power package for paramotors, the <a href=\"http:\/\/yuneeccouk.site.securepod.com\/paramotor.html\">10 kW EPac<\/a>.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>We were awaiting developments on the EP200, a twin-motored, single-place ultralight that looked as though it would be powered by two EPac units.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Springtime, 2009 brought the news that a two-seater was under development, and summer brought surprise after surprise.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/yuneeccouk.site.securepod.com\/Aircraft_specification.html\">The 40 kW (54 horsepower) E430 <\/a>made its first flights on June 12, 2009, followed by further testing on June 20.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Test pilot Sun Xun managed two flights of 15 minutes, achieving a top speed of 150 kilometers per hour (93 mph) a climb rate of 7 meters per second (1,377 feet per minute), and a maximum altitude of 300 meters (960 feet).<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Sun commented on the quiet and smooth nature of motor operation.<\/p>\n<p>The prototype was quickly bundled up and shipped to Camarillo, California, where test pilot Dave Morss and members of EAA Chapter 723 gave the airplane a more stringent shakedown, in preparation for its debut at AirVenture 2009.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>In three days, they put more than 20 hours on the plane, enabling the FAA to certify it for flight at Oshkosh.\u00a0 On July 14, 2009 the plane was given US registration\u00a0N386CX and on July 18, 2009 was given a Certificate of Airworthiness by the Federal Aviation Administration, then almost immediately shipped to Wisconsin.<\/p>\n<p>On July 19, Tom Peghiny flew his ultralight <a href=\"http:\/\/www.flyespyder.com\/\">eSpyder with a Yuneec 27 hp motor<\/a>, and like Sun Xun, commented on the smoothness, quietness, and ease of operation.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>He then took his new craft to Oshkosh.<\/p>\n<p>Oshkosh allowed Yuneec to show the full range of their products, with EPacs, the eSpyder, and E430.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Big as AirVenture was, it was a mere warm up for what was to follow.<\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp mceIEcenter\">\n<div id=\"attachment_243\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-243\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-243\" title=\"oshkosh02-e430-breezy1\" src=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/oshkosh02-e430-breezy1-300x137.jpg\" alt=\"Old and New - Breezy Leading E430 at Oshkosh\" width=\"300\" height=\"137\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/oshkosh02-e430-breezy1-300x137.jpg 300w, http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/oshkosh02-e430-breezy1.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-243\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Old and New - Breezy Leading E430 at Oshkosh<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On September 3, at Yuneec\u2019s factory airfield outside Shanghai, Mr. Gerard Thevenot, who earlier in August set a new record crossing the English Channel using a Hydrogen powered Hang glider (see Man of La Manche, October 29, in this blog) \u2013 set\u00a0a duration record using a Yuneec-powered hang glider \u2013 one hour and 16 minutes.<\/p>\n<p>The October 10<sup>th<\/sup> opening of Yuneec\u2019s 25,000 square meter, Phase 1 new factory in Shanghai., with its own flying site, saw the first such facility \u201cto be dedicated solely to the production of electric aircraft.\u201d<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Over 500 local and international guests, local officials and members of the press watched the world\u2019s first fully electric airshow.<\/p>\n<p>From Yuneec\u2019s press release, \u201cFollowing the speeches and opening ceremony Yuneec displayed 5 different types of electric aircraft being developed or tested with electric power systems by Yuneec&#8230;. During this show two of Yuneec\u2019s E<strong>430<\/strong>, twin seat, electric aircraft flew in formation setting yet another world first and confirming Yuneec\u2019s leading position in the world of electric flight.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_237\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-237\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-237\" title=\"opening001\" src=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/opening001-300x137.jpg\" alt=\"Grand Opening Ceremonies at Yuneec's Shanghai Factory\" width=\"300\" height=\"137\" srcset=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/opening001-300x137.jpg 300w, http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/opening001.jpg 980w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-237\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Grand Opening Ceremonies at Yuneec&#39;s Shanghai Factory<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;Flying in the show among others were Dave Morss, Yuneec\u2019s American Test Pilot, and Jean-Renaud Faliu in the E<strong>430<\/strong>\u2019s, Tom Peghiny in a FlightStar <strong>E-Spyder<\/strong> and World Paramotor Champion Michel Carnet with<strong> E-PAC<\/strong>, Yuneec\u2019s electric paramotor system.<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>At the end of the Show J. R.
