{"id":2469,"date":"2011-01-10T07:11:58","date_gmt":"2011-01-10T14:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/?p=2469"},"modified":"2011-01-10T07:11:58","modified_gmt":"2011-01-10T14:11:58","slug":"batteries-not-included","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/batteries-not-included\/","title":{"rendered":"Batteries Not Included"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0The University of New South Wales has a long-term solar development program that produces some of the most competitive solar racers in the world \u2013 evidenced by their taking a world speed record for solar-only vehicles on January 7 at Nowra, Australia.\u00a0 Their record run was witnessed and awarded on the spot by Guinness World Record officials.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Breaking the Guinness world record\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LI8sApVfOoM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cDesigned and built by UNSW students, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sunswift.com\/\">Sunswift IVy<\/a> is a three-wheeled vehicle with a monocoque carbon fiber body, brushless CSIRO 3 phase DC 1800 W motor, solar array producing about 1200 W (the same it takes to run a toaster) and, usually, a 24.75 kg (55.56 lb) lithium ion polymer battery pack.
