{"id":660,"date":"2010-02-28T15:06:08","date_gmt":"2010-02-28T22:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/?p=660"},"modified":"2010-03-01T16:22:17","modified_gmt":"2010-03-01T23:22:17","slug":"two-motors-and-everything-but-coffee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/two-motors-and-everything-but-coffee\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Motors and Everything but Coffee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pierre-Jean Beney may be the first to fly an electrically-powered paraglider with a tricycle wheeled chassis.<\/p>\n<p>Using a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.trikebuggy.com\/\">Trikebuggy,<\/a> itself a unique platform, Beney mounted two Hacker A200-8 motors with 220 Amp controllers, a tidy reduction system, and his own microprocessor board to drive the motors with a combined throttle and kill switch. The board, according to Beney, also monitors the LiF2PO4 batteries, RPM, and will soon be connected to a global positioning system (GPS) to measure speed, &#8220;and eventually make coffee!!!&#8221; Other anticipated changes may include different motors, including a larger, direct drive type.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aero-model.com\/Hacker-Brushless-A200-8.aspx\">motors <\/a>are each capable of producing 15 kW and can handle 185 Amps of current continuously, with 300 Amps peak.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"First Electric Trikebuggy PPG\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mtRKHodVVdo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Beney provided your editor with a brief tutorial on the difference between powered paragliders (PPG) and powered parachutes (PPC). &#8220;This is not a powered parachute, it is a powered paraglider (you can tell by the shape of the wing which is very rounded compared to more flat for PPC).
