Boeing performed software and hardware upgrades, including strengthening the landing gear. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boeing.com\/Features\/2013\/02\/bds_phantom_eye_02_26_13.html\">Its second flight<\/a> was a big success with a successful landing \u2013 a great one even, since the airplane is reuseable.\u00a0 This is particularly helpful for Boeing, which funded the project out of its own pocket.<\/p>\n<p>The company commented on the expectations raised by the flight: \u201cBoeing&#8217;s liquid hydrogen-powered Phantom Eye unmanned airborne system completed its second flight Feb. 25, demonstrating capabilities that will allow it to perform intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions for up to four days without refueling.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7510\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/?attachment_id=7510\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-7510\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7510\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7510\" title=\"boeing_phantomeye_300\" src=\"http:\/\/cafe.foundation\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/boeing_phantomeye_300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-7510\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Phantom Eye rests after second test flight.
