C. Auto Show<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Secretary Moniz explained, \u201cEnergy Department investments in advanced vehicle technologies have had a major impact on the industry, driving down costs for consumers and reducing carbon emissions. \u00a0These projects will continue America\u2019s leadership in building safe, reliable, and efficient vehicles to support a strong, 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0century transportation system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Funding opportunities include money for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advanced batteries (including manufacturing processes) and electric drive R&amp;D,<\/li>\n<li>Lightweight materials,<\/li>\n<li>Advanced combustion engine and enabling technologies R&amp;D,<\/li>\n<li>Fuels technologies (dedicated or dual-fuel natural gas engine technologies,<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Funding will go to cost-shared projects with private industry, national laboratories, and university led-teams.
